Hey guys!
I'm starting this little blog because I thought maybe it'd be fun to write about things that I love... and my loves are vast and various... birds of all sorts, vintage lamps, my lovely friends, gibson guitars, cute boots, crazy worship, modern art, Irish wolfhounds, dark chocolate...the list goes on. This blog might end up being my thoughts on all those things or none of them, I haven't really decided yet. I just thought I'd give it a whirl and see how it goes. Some of what I end up writing about may be considered "spiritual," while some of it may be about the best red lipstick I've found. I think God knows what makes our hearts happy and sometimes the perfect hair product or eyeshadow can be a little gift from Him. That's how I see it anyway.

I thought maybe it would be fun to let folks know about different things that are inspiring me at the moment, and I'm currently obsessed with the book One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. I've been doing a Bible Study based on that book for the last few months with some beautiful friends. Let me say that the words "bible study" have unfortunately never excited me, mainly because I've gone to a few over the years that have been some of the most boring hours of my life, but this one has been completely different. I tell myself every week I'm not going to cry this time, and then end up boohooing within the first 5 minutes or so. If you're looking for a great book that is life changing, you should get One Thousand Gifts pronto. It's basically about cultivating thankfulness in your daily life, the life we live out that doesn't feel interesting enough to tweet or facebook about - that normal life we all have that we tend to want to be something it's not. This book shows practical and thoughtful ways to develop a life of gratitude through the amazing times, and really horrible times, and out of that thankfulness you cultivate a life of joy and grace. I don't know about you, but I want to be a person who is bursting with those qualities. When I was a young girl and would come into my Grandma's house complaining about something, she would start singing the old song, "You've gotta accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative..." My Grandma Lluuana is one of the most genuinely joyful people you'll ever meet and I think it's because she's chosen to see through the lens of thankfulness. When she lost my Grandaddy to lung cancer at age 50, she was still able to see God's grace in her life. I want to be that kind of person that other people are drawn to because they can see God's goodness in everything.

Here's a link to Ann's blog. If you're interested in the book you can order one there or pick it up at your local Barnes & Noble. :)

Well that's all for now...oh, except that Oribe makes this wave & shine spray called "Apres Beach" that has become my favorite stuff EVER. It gives your hair that beachy piecey look that we're always trying to get and makes it shiny...plus it smells like heaven itself. It's kinda expensive but worth it. ;) www.oribe.com

Much love~
